Why are conservatives allowed to lie on TV?

Tonight, African American conservative Ron Christie was on The Ed Show when Ed asked him about the rhetoric and racism of the ‘teabaggers’ and why the Republican “leadership” is failing to distance itself from the wackos.

Ron said of course, the racism is horrible but the left is just as bad. Ed mentions the black museum guard shot down by the old rightie wacko in DC and Ron brings up an incident where a black conservative was beaten up by leftwingers at a town hall meeting in Missouri. I was upset that Ed didn’t know the story as it was definitely a biggie in the blogosphere at the time it happened.

The original story from the St Louis Post-Dispatch was headlined, Six people, including P-D reporter, arrested at Carnahan meeting

St. Louis County police arrested six people, including a Post-Dispatch reporter, during a demonstration Thursday evening outside a forum on aging called by U.S. Rep. Russ Carnahan, D-St. Louis.

Two of the people were arrested on suspicion of assault, one of resisting arrest and three on suspicion of committing peace disturbances, police say.

This was transformed within 24 hours to SEIU Attacks: White-Led Union Thugs Attack Black Conservative. The man was seen the next day at a press conference in a wheel chair with various bandages, obviously suffering from the vicious beating.

there was a bit of a problem with the whole story, despite the claims of a supposed unbiased observer who witnessed the “unprovoked attack”, when a video of the incident was posted to the Internetz. It starts with one man lying on the street and others milling about – only one problem – it wasn’t Kenneth Gladney, the black conservative. He is seen a few seconds later being pushed down as people rush to the aid of the man on the ground. Later, Gladney is shown walking about talking to people with no evident injuries or indication that he is limping or suffering in fashion. Oh, yeah, that “unbiased observer” – somehow or other he turned out to be Gladney’s attorney, well first he claimed he was but then to be a witness he couldn’t be the attorney so he turned it over to his brother but it really turned out that David Brown was Gladney’s employer. Even better, Gladney isn’t really a conservative, he’s just a street seller of political goodies – story from a fellow employee in the Riverfront Times from St Louis

So – did Ron Christie lie or is he just ignorant?

  1. Since James Von Brunn worked for a leftist publisher that printed books by William Bloom and such, supported socialist economic policies (all neo-Nazis have been calling for universal health care for decades, including Brunn) and wrote about his leftist views in his own words I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you simply took Think Progress’ word for it. But as for your whole “I’m a good White person” schtick when will you peole grow up. We don’t like you, no one’s interested in being your Black friend. Move on.

Black folk are waking up to what Malcolm X said (and the only true thing he said) about White liberals. You can’t trust them. Ken Gladney was assaulted and you and your lynch mob excuse it because you simply can’t stand Black folk not agreeing with you. It’s sad, shameful and completely typical.

  2. Well, isn’t that a pleasant comment from Mr Taylor.

Clueless but earnest in his dislike for a person he doesn’t know.

James von Brunn “worked for a leftist publisher”, did he now? Not according to several sources, rather he was a copywriter for an advertising agency. He “supported socialist economic policies” – really? Man, you’ve no clue about economic systems. Nazis are not socialists, no matter what your supposed education is telling you. James von Brunn was as far right as it is possible to go – deny it all you will – such denial will only illustrate your ignorance.

Funny, you say that about no one wanting to be my Black friend, when I grew up in a nation (not the US) that was 50-50 Black/White (or African/European), have lived in several countries that were majority African and have a Black Jamaican daughter-in-law. I long ago learned to judge a person by their actions and not by the colour of their skin – looks like you haven’t.

Some “Black folk” are as clueless as some “White folk” – colour has nothing to do with it. It is a matter of deliberately choosing to believe nonsense, whether religious, political or historical. If an adult refuses to learn, the knowledgeable often have no choice but to make fun of the ignorance.

Lots of people don’t agree with me, so what?

Mr Taylor says “Ken Gladney was assaulted” – funny about that, it seems the only people still saying that are Mr Gladney, Mr Brown – his attorney, employer, unbiased observer, etc, and righties who weren’t there. The claim of assault is not backed up by the widely available video.

So Mr Taylor – neener, neener.
